highlight the item
hold down the CTRL button, or the SHIFT key
then use the arrows on your keyboard to shift the furniture item from side to side, or lift up and down.
With this option you can raise the rice bowl from the floor and place to a certain height, or place your furniture items more accurately while decorating.
