Don't like Purple Cola? Wish your avie made Gulge-Gulge sounds? Well then DERIVE IT! Why do you think it's called DERIVE-A-Can? Make your own version, and even sell it the catalog for a small markup over my original, and you can keep the extra profits for yourself! You can express yourself AND earn credits at the same time. How's that for a sweet deal? You'll need a full account on IMVU, as well as a copy of Previewer. You can find out more about Deriving on the IMVU's Education Center. Below are the templates you'll need to get started:

This is the texture used for the Body of the Can. Alter this to make small changes to the look of the can, like replacing the logo or changing the color:

This is the Wireframe layout for the Body of the Can. It shows you exactly how each pixel attaches to the model's Body. Use this to create a completely new Can texture from scratch::

There is no template for the the Specular map (or Shine) for the Body of the Can as I simply used a Solid Color Texture (which is a 4 pixel image Studio can generate, this one being bright grey). A Specular map is a gray image that defines how reflective an item should be. This only works in IMVU Desktop and IMVU Mobile, and has no effect in IMVU Classic (as of April.2024). If you want your can label to have a different shine then the rest of the can, you should make a Specular map that is dark where the label is and lighter where it's not.

There is no Normals map for the Body of the Can as I've designed it to be smooth, but you could use one if you want the outside of the can to have bumpy detail, like wrinkles or scuffs. The Normal map defines the height effect of the Texture map, based on brightness. When I make a Normal map for the Body, I start out with a grey version of my Texture map, with just the shadows and highlights. Consider the basic level of the surface to be 50% grey. Darken your image to drill down, and add white to build up. You can always get a basic Normal map just by making a copy of your basic texture and removing all color. Normal maps only work on IMVU Desktop and IMVU Mobile, and has no effect in IMVU Classic (as of April.2024).

This is the texture used for the Parts of the Can, like the top and bottom:

For the Specular map I simply reused the texture, as it is already a black and white image that shows the brightness levels.

To add sound, I highly recommend you download and use Audacity. It's a free sound editing tool that can export out OGG sound files. OGG sound files compress down to less then 1/10th the file size of WAV files. SO USE OGG FILES!!! You can download it here:
