The 2D Sheeter -v1b

Stop! Not for Sale! This item isn't for IMVU Users... it's for IMVU Developers! This is a simple 2D Sheet with a HUGE variety of uses, thanks to it's very large and flexible array of animations. The "Sheeter" is composed of 144 square sections, which allows it to smoothly flex and bend on command. And it comes with Dozen animations designed enhance almost any flat object you can think of. People, plants, buildings, monsters, flags, you name it! Here's a list of the commands:

WindR - The Sheet blows in a wind from the Right
WindL - The Sheet blows in a wind from the Left
Tremble - The Sheet shakes like a bush
Shake - The Sheet shakes like it's in an Earthquake
JellyJump - The Sheet bounces off the ground as if something heavy crashed nearby, and quivers like it's made of Jello
SolidJump - The Sheet bounces off the ground, but doesn't quiver
Stretch - The Sheet flexes like an athlete getting ready for a race
FlyAround - The Sheet jumps off the ground and flies around, like a ghost
Wave - The Sheet ripples, like a flag or seaweed
Boom - The Sheet is blown away, opposite of the direction it was facing, as if there was an explosion
Wobble - The Sheet dances back and forth, as if it were alive

When making a new, flat object with this, it's important to note that you probably shouldn't use all of these animations. You will only need a couple for any object. Go into Previewer and remove the animations your object doesn't need. If you're making a Bush, you only need Shake, Tremble, and Wind. So remove the others. If you're making a Ghost, you only need FlyAround, Shake, and Tremble. Remove the unused animations will save file size and keep your users for being confused.

Also, if you're object is small, you don't need to use the full 512x512 texture. Use a smaller size, like 128x128, if you don't need the extra resolution. The objects you make with this are designed for the background, usually close to a wall or some other surface. So make simple objects that look good from a distance. You can use any Clipart, photos, or images you might have. Here's the image I used as an example:

Since my demo object is an image of a House, I used the full 512x512 available. You can't use any larger size then that. But if you are making a Flat Pumpkin, or a Halloween Cat, something like 128x128 might be better. The Smaller the texture you use, the better. People might not buy your object if you make the file size too large!

In addition to the image of your object, you also need a Black and White Silhouette of it, known as an Opacity map. This is just a White Shadow of your object, but it's very important that it's the same size as your image. If you're image is 128x128, then your Opacity has to be 128x128. It can't be larger, smaller, or be rotated at an odd angle. It has to be a prefect Silhouette of your image to work. Remember, White is Solid, Black is Invisible. Here's the one I made as an example:

It's also important that your image be centered and fit the square Sheet as closely as possible. Below is a Wireframe layout that shows you how your image will be applied to the model. Scale up your object to fit as much of the square area as possible, and keep it centered. Don't go over the edges, or your image will get clipped. Don't worry if you're Cat is HUGE, or your House is Small, people will resize your Sheet to fit their needs in-game:

After your images are set and working, go into the Actions Tab. Click on the name of the Action in the top, green area, and change the name to fit your object better. If you are making a Bush, change "Tremble" to say "Rustle", or something appropriate. You might change "FlyAround to say "Haunt, if you're making a Ghost, for example.

In addition, if you look under the Red section, you'll find more detailed controls that allow you to tweak the animation. Please read up on these controls in the IMVU's Education Center. Many of these, like "Fall" have loops designed to control how long the Sheeter stays down after it's knocked over. You can increase or decrease it's down time just by changing the number of loops it plays.

When you want to play your animation in Previewer, you might notice that the play button doesn't work. This is a known bug in Previewer. Just change the name of your animation to "stance.Standing", and hit Apply Changes. This will let you see the animation played back the second you hit Apply. Click Apply Changes again to see your animation play again. Once it's working, change the name back to what it was before.

To add sound, I highly recommend you download and use Audacity. It's a free sound editing tool that can export out OGG sound files. OGG sound files compress down to less then 1/10th the file size of WAV files. SO USE OGG FILES!!! You can download it here:
