Chigomage hairstyle

Chigomage is a hairstyle which was worn by girls from the Edo period. Some kindergartens and elementary schools in the Meiji and Showa eras adopted chigomage with purple hakama as their regulation uniform for little girls. Even now chigomage is sometimes worn by girls when they take part in Shichi-go-san, Jusan Mairi, festivals and so on.
