John Atkinson Grimshaw (6 September 1836 to 13 October 1893) was a Victorian-era artist, who's primary influence was the Pre-Raphaelites. True to the Pre-Raphaelite style, he created landscapes of accurate colour and lighting, vivid detail and realism, often typifying seasons or a type of weather. This piece, Prince's Dock Hull 1882, depicts the Prince's Dock in Liverpool, England, as it was in the year 1882. The three story building shown here how houses the Hull Maritime Museum.
