This is an updated version of the orginal mortar and pestle, also known as "Wedgwood" mortar and pestle that was originated in 1779 which the mortar and the head of the pestle are usually made of porcelain, while the handle of the pestle is made of wood.
This lovely mortar and pestle is made from the finest marble from China and is an off-white color with rich veins of medium dark gray.
The mortar and pestle are used in medical use, for and food preparation such as grinding spices into powder or making a pesto, hummus, and guacamole just to name a few.
Mortar and pestle's are commonly used by Herbologist.
