Since no final resting place for Michael Jackson has been chosen yet by the Jackson family, the fans of Detroit, Michigan took it upon themselves to create their own burial for Michael Jackson. In the absence of a body, the Motown community filled two casket-shaped vaults with memorial items such as toys, flowers and other mementos donated by fans in memory of Michael Jackson. Two hearses carried the vaults to Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit where a granite tombstone stands above two donated cemetery plots. The following is engraved on the tombstone: Motown Remembers the King of Pop Michael J. Jackson Aug. 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009, Songwriter, Singer, Producer, Dancer, Choreographer, Humanitarian, Jackson 5 member, Soloist, 13 #1 Singles, 13 Grammys, 197 Awards & 37 Top 40 hits.
