Greil is Ike's father and was a master of the blade as well. He was a Daein General and one of King Ashnard's feared Four Riders. Lehran's Medallion, the Fire Emblem, unleshed chaos in him and he was out of control. His wife, Ike's mother, tried to stop his wrath and she too became a victim of his sword. When the chaos had recided and he realized what he had done he cut his tendants in his right arm so he could never again wield a sword. He fled Daein and raised Ike and Mist in Gallia then Crimea while leading a mercenary group called the Greil Mercenaries. Greil was killed by the Black Knight in front of Ike one night and Ike became the mercenary commander.
