this tail can be use for both male and female. it is black. with a few highlights showing scales. please, only buy this if you want a black tail. NOT a solid black tail. NOT a black tail with white markings. NOT a black tail with red markings, and so forth. (being about this because some..ahem. consumers bought my last black tail and complained that it was all black.) -duh-
