Creator's Notes & Tips:
Graphics!!!
I have used small sized graphics for the excellently LOW Kb to help reduce overall client crashing.
This also leaves you plenty of Kb Room to add your wonderful artwork and still have a light weight product.
Please note, if your color combinations are not working, adjust the Vertex On or Off as needed.
You can also adjust the "Self Illumination". Experimetn with these settings.
You may use any size graphic you wish. If you need more detail use a Larger Graphic 256x256 or 512x256, etc. This
project may use Mapped (below) and / or Standard graphics in a 128x128 (low Res/Kb), 256x256 (normal Res/Kb) and up to 512x512 (High Res/Kb) Look closely at my "starter" textures in the Create Mode to get an idea of their layout, sizes, more... Experiment!
Most all textures are 'standard' (as in the preview pane of Create Mode except for any UV Mapped as in the below) Change as many textures as you want. I suggest you make yours unique!
Can you use my textures on my products? YES!
Can you use my textures on other products? No.
Tutorial
Okay, Let's get started
You DON'T HAVE to use BOTH Rings (more on this below)
|
1) Go to the bottom of this page and look for a Big Red Number. Notice to the right of that it says "Derive from Product"
Click it. This will automatically open up the Create Mode for us and have this project ready to go! Use these templates as a guide for your project. Make your own. We don't need two of the same items here on IMVU :)
TEMPLATE MATERIALS : Say Anything you want. "I'm Hungry", "Hug Me", "I want you to Kiss Me", "I'm Taken", "Thinking About You", " I Love You John Doe III " LOL you can say anything just mark yours for the correct audience according to the V.G.P.
These below were used to create this project. They are 512wide and 32 High or 512x32 pixels in size. Use a minimum of
400 DPI in your graphic editor. If you need to, right click them and "copy the image" open your graphic editor and Paste
then for inspection, edit or whatever you need. YOU DONT HAVE TO USE BOTH RINGS more on this below....
These 2 below were used for the TOP Revolving Band
This is the color for I used for the the Top Text. You may use any color you wish...
This is the Opacity "cutout" for the Top text. Only the White part will be visible in the client :)
This is where you can get really creative! It can say anything and doesn't *have* to have anything to do with AFK or BRB
Now, These 2 below were used for the Bottom Revolving Band
This is the color I used for the Bottom Text. You may use any color you wish...
This is the Opacity "cutout" for the Top text. Only the White part will be visible in the client :)
You DON'T HAVE to use BOTH Rings more on this below on ADVANCED EDIT
2) Make a 'New' Graphic in your editor. Specify 512 pixels wide and 32 pixels tall. Fill it with BLACK. Type your characters in
WHITE Text with any font or saying you want. Fit it into the 512x32 box. Try to keep your Font simple as you can so the
product will be easy to read from the Chat Client.
3) Look at the Create Mode Screen. You will see the MESHES Tab open it. It has a list of Materials there too. Make sure
under the Materials you are looking at the Material marked 00 as highlighted below in Purple. This is the Bottom Ring of the 2
revolving rings.. At the time of this writing, the Create Mode is very sensitive to changes on the MATERIAL TAB. MAKE ONE
CHANGE AT A TIME and PRESS the big Yellow APPLY BUTTON ! Then Continue. This is especially true when making changes to
the Parameters and Animations....
OKAY Press the EDIT button for the Texture Color. Browse to the COLOR you saved. Double Click on IT !! Nothing much
happens yet, it's ok. Now Press APPLY. You should see your color. Grab the OPACITY FILE with your Text on it and do the
same again. PRESS APPLY. Do the same steps again for the Top Ring. The top ring is Material 01.
3) You guessed it, Press SAVE and then Upload. Your Project is on its way to IMVU. Almost done... In a few moments
the Blue Submission Page will come up. First, look on the right column there. See the Steps 1 through 8 ? the First one
is up there and Explains what to do and the appropriate Box is Highlighted to change.
Click on the Right Side where it says Step 2 and it will guide you through all 8 Steps. Make sure your TEXT does not
contain any AP WORDS unless you select the Access Pass Audience :) I can't have my derivers getting in trouble now
can I - LOL - Once you are happy with your description and the way the catalog entry looks, go ahead and press the
Big Red Submit button... You can edit the description by going to the bottom of your project catalog page and
select Edit Settings.
ADVANCED Information :
If you press something wrong or things don't look right, You may simply X-Out of the whole thing and start over. Some of the settings on Material Properties and the Opacity maps are used for different things. Changing the Illumination for example is helpful in special light conditions. Fog override - does just that. In a room that has a lot of FOG in it, the selected material will show through it. BUT Leave these alone until you get more practice. Your done!
DONT WANT BOTH RINGS?
DO YOU WANT JUST THE TOP ONE OR BOTTOM ONE?
That is just too easy... Go to your Graphic Editor and make a NEW Image. specify a size of 1x1 and make it solid BLACK. Simply use THIS NEW Image for BOTH the Material and the Material Opacity.... POOF - Its gone :D
Want to change the SPEED of the animation?
Make it faster or slower? Look at the Horizontal Speed. 'Direction X' You may change it effectively from 1 to 10 and see the differences. NOW if you would like it to spin the other way... Simply put in a Negative number -1 to -10 and play with it... This
Setting may be most helpful in languages that are not read from Left to Right :D
Please, keep in mind, your graphics dimensions can be larger or smaller than mine.
Confused? Just drop me a PM and I will respond as soon as possible.
You may also find handy the " Creator's Helping Hands" It makes the avatar Stand Still for photos, etc.
