There are not a lot of these and the ones I have seen are generally cartoony looking. I approached this project from a consumer's standpoint. What do I look for in a sword as a martial artist?

Laura Kinney approved!

The fittings are blackened steel in a higo motif with patinated copper habaki (blade collar), seppa (the washers that sandwich the tsuba between the habaki and tsuka handle) and shitodome (eyelets). Tsuka (grip) features black itogawa (leather) with white samegawa (stingray skin) panels. The square plate tsuba features a neat hammered finish. The blade is shinogi zukuri with torizori and a wild looking toran style hamon (note the wavy edge).

To illustrate that this item is unisex I have enlisted the aid of my new model, "Ernie". Isn't he a dream?

I make this for the Cosplayer, the Roleplayer and those demanding something historically accurate. This is the "inside sword", the one you would take to bed. The word wakizashi is frequently (and accurately) translated as 'sidearm'. It is to the samurai what the Colt Peacemaker is the the cowboy or the Beretta M9 is to the soldier. If you were not wearing your katana because you were caught off guard, or you were indoors, this is what you would grab.

Need to throw down bigtime? Go Nito Ryu style and couple with another sword! As is proper, this wakizashi is a left handed weapon!
