Anata, warui... 😛
Admittedly this is an overly elaborate inside joke (I have about fifteen hours invested in deriving the textures for this dagger) but, beyond that, it is a hella sweet dagger!

This is a pretty famous tanto called "Osoraku Sukemune." Shimada Sukemune got to be a big deal in the swordsmithing scene and he made this crazy tanto--more a dirk than a knife--that was 2/3 kissaki. His buddy says, "Why is that even a thing? Doing it is unnecessarily difficult and the functionality is dubious. You are doing that just because you can." Sukemune's reply was immortalized in the horimono on the blade: "Osoraku..." which means, "Perhaps..." I have NO idea what the original koshirae looked like, if it even still exists. I went with this kind of toned-down motif with antique iron and buffalo horn fittings but made it fancy with the maki'e on the saya, gold foil on all the soft metal parts and the fancy handle wrap made of braided string. It is called jabaramaki and, even on a little four inch handle like this, could take the better part of a work week. Two versions of this are available. The furniture version does not include a saya but why would it? The yaiba or toushin, the blade, it is obviously the most interesting part of a Japanese sword.
