WOLVERINES!
Ahem, now that I have gotten that out of my system... This is a vintage style varsity letterman jacket as was worn in the 1984 film, Red Dawn. Some consider it a cinema classic starring the likes of Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, Lea Thompson and Jennifer Gray that captures the zeitgeist of the tense and paranoid Cold War era, some consider it a training film.
I say, "Why not both?" So about this jacket (along with some movie trivia). Calumet High is the fictitious school attended by our heroes in the film. Their team was called The Wolverines. Their colors are blue and gold and that all seems really familiar, like a certain college team. Calumet is a town in Michigan on the Upper Peninsula. The setting was moved to Calumet, Colorado because reasons. IRL Calumet, Colorado is a tiny ghost town with some abandoned mines. Filming took place in Las Vegas —New Mexico, that is.
The movie was remade in 2012 (Remember the year the world was supposed to end?) starring Liam Helmsworth's less handsome and charismatic brother, Chris and one of Hollywood's favourite Tough Guys, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. As remakes go, I ain't mad at it. It brings some new imagination to the table but it does not feel quite as fleshed out as the original.
