The Derive-A-Mask
(For Men)

Need to freak out your pal's and enemies? Try out the Derive-A-Mask. It's not so much a product, as it is a set of tools for derivers to create whatever freaky mask they want to, and have it literally jump out at people on command. Make your own version of this mask, change the animation timing, add sound effects, and you'll be scaring people out of their skin in no time! Make a giant eyeball, a monster face, or the grim specter of death. Whatever you derive, you're mask will be bursting off the screen with my long list of animations:

Without any commands, the mask will remain hidden, ready to surprise!
"Pulse" makes the mask push in and out.
"Pound1" makes the mask grow out and then jump back.
"Pound2" makes the mask jump out and then slowly come back.
"Beat" makes the mask slightly pulsate, like a beating heart.
"Twist" makes the mask leap off and swirl outwards repeatedly.
"Scare" makes the mask stay on the face.

Note: This mask is for Male avies only, and will not fit female avies correctly. There is a seperate version for Female avies available in the catalog. It also might not fit custom avie heads, so use "Try It" before you buy it, if you have any other head then the default one your IMVU avie came with. There will be no refunds if you buy the wrong version or it doesn't fit your new avie head fully.

But why buy it? DERIVE IT! Make your own version, and even sell it in the catalog for a small markup over my original, and you can keep the extra profits for yourself! You can express yourself AND earn credits at the same time. How's that for a sweet deal? You'll need a full account on IMVU, as well as a copy of Previewer. You can find out more about Deriving on the IMVU's Education Center. Below are the templates you'll need to get started:

There is an Opacity texture, but it's solid white. If you wish to add holes or make it transparent, you need to make a solid white copy of your Mask texture and leave the parts you wish to remove as solid black, and the parts that are transparent need to be gray. The darker the gray, the more glass-like the mask becomes.

This is the texture map used on the Mask. Use this to make small changes to the look of the Mask, like new colors or minor graphical additions:

This is the Wireframe layout of the Mask. This will show you exactly how every pixel attaches to the mode. Use this to create an entirely new texture map from scratch:

To add sound, for whatever reason, I highly recommend you download and use Audacity. It's a free sound editing tool that can export out OGG sound files. OGG sound files compress down to less then 1/10th the file size of WAV files. SO USE OGG FILES!!! You can download it here:
