To start the radio streaming, stand on the DVD which will make one turn around and bring up the Flash Menu from which you can select the station and stop/resume the stream.
Please keep in mind this is live streaming from remote servers over which
I have no control and which may be down for maintenance or other reasons.
If you select a new station and the stream doesn't start to play after
a few seconds, the station may be down or the stream's URL has changed.
In such a case, what you should do is try again later, and if it's still
not working, drop me a message with the station name so that I can update
the URL for the benefit of all users.
Another thing you may want to do is to overwrite the default channel list with your own radio stations. These can be any free MP3 streams that you can find on the web (SHOUTcast.com is an excellent source for finding these streams.)
Note: It is required that you have a basic understanding of the IMVU previewer before attempting to derive the product.
To make your own list of radio stations, just follow the simple steps below:
The file has placeholders for ten channel entries which is the maximum number of stations the list can hold.
<channel> </channel>
section defines one radio station:
<name> </name>
is what the Avatar will see as the name of the station in the drop-down channel list.
<bitrate> </bitrate>
specifies the speed at which the stream is running.
This information can be found on the SHOUTcast directory page.
<url> </url>
tells the player where to go to get the stream.
This information can be gathered from the playlists that are downloadable from
SHOUTcast.
In the Product Editor, open the project folder (where all the files for this product are located)
by clicking on the folder icon as shown below:
Move the file channels.xml to that folder, save your product in Create Mode, upload it and test it!
There is yet one more way to customize the player and that is by creating new player skins. This is more complicated and time-consuming than editing the channel list so I will not go through the details here, just in case you're interested, you can download the original Developers Guide by Brigath (the guy who made the Flash Player which I derived from) and follow the instructions on how to add your own skins.
If you need help or information, you are welcome to drop a message on my homepage. However before asking for help, please read all instructions above carefully and make sure you followed them to the letter.
