Eri ashi sticker

The two tapered, prong shaped lines of bare skin on a geiko's neck are called
eri ashi. Left unpainted, eri ashi has a very dramatic effect, as if you're stealing a
glimpse of the bare skin of the neck through the veil of a geiko's makeup.

Oshiroi – the make up geisha (geiko in Kyoto dialect) and maiko use –
has been used in the past by courtesans of the Japanese court. One of the
theories behind this, is that in the old days in Japan, because people did not
have the luxury of electricity, geisha – and before them, oiran and
tayuu - painted their faces white to illuminate them during the dark evenings.
To leave the nape exposed, without any make-up, was thought to have a very
dramatic effect.
