Enjoy a day sail on the Schooner Manitou.
Animated replica of the real life tall ship sailing along the shore in the open waters of Lake Michigan.

This ship is a replica of a real tall ship that I have had the privilege of sailing on in real life. I helped the crew raise sails and I even got to steer! Sailing on a tall ship is an amazing experience that I tried my best to duplicate here, of course on here I omitted the hard work of raising sails and swabbing the deck. You can just relax and enjoy the ride!

This IMVU version is a true to scale replica of the real ship.
A few facts about it:

Tall Ship Manitou is a replica of an 1800’s “coasting” cargo schooner, similar to those that sailed the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean. She is a two-masted, gaff rigged, topsail schooner, measures 114 feet in length, a beam of 21 feet (width), has over 3,000 square feet of sail and displaces (weighs) over one hundred tons.

She is one of the largest sailing vessels on the Great Lakes.

Tall Ship Manitou
The animated ship sails North along Michigan's west coast in Lake Michigan through animated waves.
Here today, the waves are calm and the wind is about 10 knots, perfect for a relaxing day of sailing.
The relaxing animated trip along the shore goes on forever. You just sail away, sail away, sail away...

Tall Ship Manitou
She's a beauty!

Plenty of space topside for passengers and crew
Plenty of space topside for passengers and crew and any gear you may want to add.

Wind and waves
There is nothing like the experience of sailing on a Tall Ship. The wind, waves
and open water of the Great Lakes or Ocean is both exciting and relaxing.

At the helm
On board the Capn takes the helm, unless that duty is assigned to someone else.
The person at the helm or has command of the ship is called the "skipper".

If you leave your station at the helm, the "Auto-Skipper" takes over navigation.
(Planes have an Auto-Pilot, I thought it would be funny to have an Auto-Skipper)

Why does the wheel look like it is pointing backwards?   Many of the old sailing ships
were configured this way. The wheel turns a gear which steers the rudder right below it.
The modern day replica also has controls for the iron genny (diesel engine) on the side.

Navigation
In addition to a traditional compass, we also have modern GPS navigation.

I kept the number of pose spots down to a minimum so that you can add
your own furniture and poses to customize your ship the way you like it.

I did add a few for starters though.  A couple spots aft on both the port and
starboard sides, one at the bow, two amidships and of course one at the helm.

Leaning on aft rail
At the bow
Go aft near the stern and hang out
and chat with the Capn or skipper.

Stand at the bow and get
some wind in your face.

Gaze out at the horizon Take a seat on the deck
Gaze out at the horizon and take in
the vastness and tranquility of it all.
Take a seat on the deck. This is where you usually find the land lubbers.

Note: Poses work well with normal size avatars. Other sizes may not grasp wheel or railings properly.

There are lots of furniture nodes to add your own poses and gear.
Below deck is modest, but nodes are available if you want to use it.
I even placed one way up on top of the taller mast if you want to add a flag.
