Peer Review Education
A Public Service Announcement

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because the content you will see in Peer Review
has not yet been reviewed, you may come across some objectionable and/or adult material
even if you do not have an Access Pass. Viewer discretion is advised.

What is Peer Review?
Peer Review is a system designed to help keep inappropriate content out of IMVU’s catalog. The IMVU community is a diverse group of individuals spanning many age groups, so it is important to make sure items are rated properly, in accordance with the VGP (Virtual Goods Policy).

Peer Review is NOT a popularity contest, or a way to say what content you "like" or "don't like." Peer Review is STRICTLY a system designed to ensure that products are being rated correctly before entering the IMVU Catalog. If you rate products incorrectly, this will count against your score!!

What are the ratings and what do they mean?
Items permitted in the IMVU Catalog are rated either GA (General Audience) or APO (Access Pass Only). There are also items which you may come across during Peer Review which are not permitted in the IMVU Catalog at all (Unfit for IMVU).

Why should I participate in Peer Review?
Participating in Peer Review is a great way to contribute to the community. By participating you are helping items to pass through Peer Review and into the IMVU Catalog more quickly. Participation can also help boost your Developer Ranking... but ONLY if you review items ACCURATELY!! So please make sure you are fully familiar with all the rules before proceeding! If you are not sure about any item, just skip it!

What is my duty as a Peer Reviewer?
It is your duty to inspect each item to make sure it has been rated appropriately. You must check BOTH the actual product AND the images/text used to advertise the product. For example:

A GA-rated item and description:
- Should follow the MCG (Minimum Coverage Guidelines, see below)
- Should have no sexual themes or sexual content (ie, no lingerie)
- Should have no profanity
- Should not reference alcohol, smoking, or
- Should not have excessive violence, blood or gore.

An APO-rated item and description:
- Does not need to follow the MCG (Minimum Coverage Guidelines)
- Can have sexual themes, but no explicit sexual content (ie, , sexual poses)
- May contain profanity, but may not contain any hate speech
- May reference alcohol or smoking, but not

These are just basic guidelines, please read and understand the full Virtual Goods Policy before proceeding.

If an item is rated improperly, based on the item itself and/or the items promotional text/images, check off the reason it fails, and fail it.

To reiterate, if an item itself is GA, but the images and/or text to promote it would be rated AP, then the item fails.

For 3D products (items which are not stickers), please make sure to load the item up in 3D to double check it.
Something that seems innocent in pictures may contain hidden poses, or may in fact be a completely different item than what is being advertised!

What are the Minimum Coverage Guidelines?
The Minimum Coverage Guidelines (MCG) show what areas MUST be completely covered for the item to qualify as GA (shown in red) as well as areas which must be partially covered (shown in orange). At least 50% of the orange area must be covered. In addition they must also include additional coverage as well (ie, no "pasties"), represented in white.

What should I do about items which I suspect are copyright violations (such as music rings?)
If you are not sure about any item, skip it!

Examples of items which are Unfit for IMVU:
- Pornographic images
- Sexual Violence
- Aroused Genitals
- Depiction of Arousal
- Extreme Violence/Blood/Gore
- Real Gambling
- Hate/Dicriminatory Products
- Drug use or Reference
- Cruelty to Animals

For more information, please consult the Virtual Goods Policy.

Who should not participate in Peer Review?
Since the items in Peer Review are not yet rated, anyone under the age of 18 should not participate in Peer Review. In addition, anyone who is not prepared to encounter objectionable and/or adult content should not participate in Peer Review. Participation in Peer Review requires an understanding of the Virtual Goods Policy, so please do not participate in Peer Review if you have not read or do not understand the VGP.

PLEASE DO NOT PASS (OR FAIL) THIS ITEM!!
PLEASE SKIP IT SO OTHERS CAN READ IT AND LEARN!
