Odin, chief of the gods of the Norse Pantheon, was always seeking ways to gain more knowledge. He stole mead from giants, hung upside down on a tree for nine days, and even sacrificed his own eye to learn secrets and spells and runes.
This eyepatch features the rune "Ansuz", often associated with Odin. The word "Ansuz" is related to Old Norse "Ęsir", which means "god".
As a letter, Ansuz is the phonetic equivalent of the Modern English letter "A".
