My eldest sister is a breast cancer survivor who is now in the fight for her life. The chemo and radiation treatments damaged her heart so severely that, even though she survived stage 3 breast cancer, her heart is barely functioning. We will know within the next 3 months if she will have to go on a heart donor's list. This is the toll breast cancer takes on its victims. The damage the treatments have done to her body are extensive. Her lungs are permenantly burned due to the radiation. Her ribs are so soft that if she slightly turns they break out of place and she has to physically put them back. She suffers from enormous fatigue. Even if you survive breast cancer, your quality of life decreases tremendously. Let's hope and pray for a cure soon, not only for a cure, but for better treatments so that the survivors won't have to suffer as much for the chance to live a better life.
