Captain Roscoe Brown was a member of the 100th Fighter Squadron, 322nd Fighter Group; also know as the Tuskegee Airmen. He shot down two German aircraft, including an ME-262 on March 24, 1945 during an escort mission to Berlin. He flew a P-51C, number 7, named “Bunnie”, which he named after his daughter. After the war, he received his PhD in Education from and served as a Professor at N.Y.U. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air medal with 8 oak leaf clusters, and three Presidential Unit Citations.

This warbird is painted in the markings of "Bunnie." The Tuskegee Airman or "Red Tails" as they were known, because of the red tails on their aircraft, were made famous by becoming the first all African American fighter pilot group to train and fight as officers in the U.S. Army Air Corps. The pilot skill and fighting excellence that these brave young men displayed during WWII made them one of the most reliable bomber escort groups in the entire European Theater. The many successes of the unit made the Tuskegee Airman icons of military history.
