An essential technique to teach in your Lamaze classes, counterpressure is used to help with back labor during labor and birth. If a baby is OP (facing up instead of down) The hard part of the baby's head grinds against the mother's lower back and creates backlabor. Mom will feel her contractions in her back and almost constantly. Having her apply counterpressure against her low back will counter the pressure of the head against her back and help relieve the pain. Use this great pose to teach it and make it available in your birth room. By Genesis Lamaze!
