What's not shown is the Opacity map, which in this case is just an all White JPEG, the same size and shape as the Color Map. By making a black and white image the same proportions as the the Color Map, you can cut holes in the Cane, or make parts of the cane transparent, just by changing the white parts to black or gray. This is a technique best used by experienced texture map artists. The default white image in the derived version should fit your needs just fine if you aren't ready or interested in adding opacity.
