The Spikeys
(Despite the Avie shown in this video, this item is for Male AND Female avies!)

Do you need a less then subtle way to let people know they should keep their distance? How about 12" long steel spikes and barbs? That's the greeting your would be space-invaders will receive with the pop-out Spikeys! These hidden Spikes and Blades will burst out of your body at a moment's notice, impaling your victims and driving your enemies away. Once your "Point" has been made, you can retract them away without a hint of their existence. Handy for cuddling time later on. It's all the fun of turning your avie into a Blow Fish, without any of the potential Fat Jokes!

Commands:
"SpikesOn" - Extends your Spikes
"SpikesOff" - Retracts the Spikes
"RippleSpikes" - Darts out a few spikes at a time
"Bristle" - Sends clusters of spines rippling up your Avie's body
"Pulse" - Extends and Retracts all of the spikes

PLEASE NOTE: This will WILL REMAIN HIDDEN UNTIL USED! You won't see it when you put it on. Type in a command to make the Spikeys appear. The Spikeys will work with both Male and Female avies, but are found under Male Miscellaneous (use Show All to find it). This item also conflicts with any item that uses Channel 79 in the avie's body. Extremely few items replace that body channel, but if one of your items does it will either remove this item, or the other item. Also, large clothing items will obstruct or hide the Spikes entirely. Very thin Custom Avie bodies might show the tiny Spikes under the skin, even when Retracted. To make sure it works with your avie's outfit, please use TRY IT before you BUY IT! There will be NO REFUNDS if it doesn't work with your existing outfit.

Like the Spikes but hate the Blades? Or how about some cool metal sound effects when they pop out? Well then, quite complaining and DERIVE it! Make your own version, and even sell it the catalog for a small markup over my original, and keep the extra profits for yourself! You can express yourself AND earn credits at the same time. How's that for a sweet deal? You'll need a full account on IMVU, as well as a copy of Previewer. You can find out more about Deriving on the IMVU's Education Center. Below is the template you'll need to get started (Right Click and Save As to your computer):

This is the Texture map used for the Center Spike, in each of the Spike objects. All of the Spikes use the same images, so what you do to one Spike will apply to all of them. Use this to make simple changes, such as changing their color:

Although it's not shown here, each of the Center Spikes has an Opacity Layer. The Opacity Layer is an image which defines what part of the model is and is not visible. Think of the Opacity Layer like a White Silhouette of image your Texture map, with the White parts being Visible, and the Black parts being Invisible. In this case, the whole Center Spike in each of the Spike Groups is Solid, so it's colored White. If you wanted to remove the Center Spike, just make a completely Black Opacity image. Or by adding Black spots you can cut holes in the Spike. If you use Gray, it will make them Semi-Transparent, handy for a Glass-like appearance. Be aware that IMVU doesn't always work correctly with Transparent objects. The Opacity Layer is a JPEG, just like the Texture map, and must be the same size as well.

This is the Wireframe layout for the Center Spikes. This will show you exactly how the Texture map attaches to the model. This is very important if you plan on making your own custom Opacity Layer and want to know where the holes your cutting will appear on the model:

This is the Texture map use for the Blades on each of the Spikes. There's actually 2 of these on each Spike, but in this example they both use the same image. Use this image if you simply wish to change the color of the Spikeys. To make more drastic changes, read below:

This is the Opacity Layer for the Blades. There are two of these images, but since they are the same image, I'm showing one here. If you wish to change the shape of the Blades, or remove them entirely, you'll need to modify this image to match what you've painted on the Blade Texture map. Just make a White Silhouette that matches the form of the new Blades, or something solid Black to remove them entirely. I highly suggest avoiding the use of Gray, as IMVU isn't very good at handling stacks of semi-transparent images. Since there are two sets of Blades, you can make Blades go length-wise or at Right-Angles to the shape of the body. You can use both Blades, or just one. Whatever suits your tastes! Please experiment:

This is the Wireframe layout for the Blades. This will be very important to you if you plan on making your own custom Blades, as this will show you how to form the Texture Map and Opacity Layer so they properly fit the model. Remember, there's Two Blades for each Spike. Unless you want them to be matching, you'll need to make two new Texture and Opacity images:

To add sound, I highly recommend you download and use Audacity. It's a free sound editing tool that can export out OGG sound files. OGG sound files compress down to less then 1/10th the file size of WAV files. SO USE OGG FILES!!! You can download it here:
